"Bae" 2014 (Part 1)

Bae: Before Anyone Else

Dear Reader,

What value does the word “bae” hold to you? “Bae" is our favorite word to use now to describe people we care for or even things we care about. I’m guilty for calling food “bae”. I have even gone as far to say that I had “Bae” 2014 Applications available… as a joke of course. As we all know, that application is no longer available for obvious reasons.
We give the title of “bae” to just about anything with a pulse. Everyone and everything is “bae” which means this word has zero value. Let’s be real, most of us are still focused on ourselves. Therefore, how can anyone be number 1 when we're already holding that position?
So many of us stay stuck in this “bae” mindset that we eventually end up dating with the wrong goals in mind. We don't enter relationships with the intentions of finding a potential lifelong partner. We want someone to occupy our time because we are simply bored. We don’t really care who it is as long as they are attractive and are giving us attention. I mean that’s the whole point of going to a party right?... To meet new people who will hopefully entertain us for all of 2 to 3 hours.
Now that I've committed myself to this year of singleness, I find it almost pointless to place myself in party settings. I'm only setting myself up for unnecessary temptations. Guys will approach me and we’ll be having a decent conversation and then they’ll ask me for my number. I end up saying “no” because I know what I am trying to accomplish. Ultimately, I just wasted my time and their time even though it was pleasing to my flesh to have someone giving me attention.

"For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say 'No' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives..." -Titus 2:11-12 NIV

Within the first 5 minutes of talking to someone we can easily tell if they are “hubby” or “wifey” material or not. Yet, we will still give that person our number and our time. Why do we continue to entertain randoms? Randoms are like road blocks on the way to our destination. They slow us down from getting to the place God wants us to be with the person He wants us to be with.  So how do you know if you're dating a random? Check back on Wednesday for Part 2 of this post to find out!

Stay Faithful,

Zari Wilson

Spending time with God on the beach!
